Mirroring Embodiment, AI Have Something to Say Exhibition (2024)
Partner: Anne Hitzges

Displayed at the AI Have Something to Say exhibition in Utrecht, Netherlands, in collaboration with HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, Mirroring Embodiment explores the relationship between human movement, emotion, and artificial intelligence. This project seeks to capture the essence of human embodiment by examining how emotions are naturally expressed through movement. By engaging in a creative partnership with AI, the work investigates the ways technology can visualize and interpret human expression.

In this collaboration, AI functions as a data-driven counterpart to human intuition, transforming expressive motion into an automated and analytical format. By acting as a digital mirror, the project explores how algorithms perceive and interpret emotions in their purest form. This exploration raises questions about the intersection of human expression and computational logic, shedding light on the dynamic relationship between intuition and artificial intelligence.

By integrating AI into my creative process, I experimented with Mediapipe and machine learning to translate movement into structured data. This interaction between human intuition and computational analysis provided insights into how AI perceives emotional expression. Through this project, I not only explored AI’s mechanics but also examined its potential within creative workflows, shaping my design approach through an evolving dialogue between human expression and artificial intelligence.
